We are genuinely excited about new technologies and passionate about sharing technological innovations with others – which is why we created SILKIT UG. For several years now, we have each been a private user of so-called eBook readers, enjoying the freedom of taking along our favourite books wherever we have gone: on holiday, to a doctor’s appointment, on a business trip – in other words, any time we were on the road and did not want to be deprived of an enthralling read – and all without burdening our luggage with excess of kilos. There’s no disputing that printed books are a fine and sophisticated cultural possession, one of the most brilliant human inventions of all time. However, we are convinced that the two forms of media (books in print and eBooks) will be capable of coexisting for many years to come.
We have made it our goal to be the place to turn to for anyone interested in combining their passion for reading with new, innovative technologies, and electronic reading devices. These are the people for whom we wi‘ll do whatever it takes to make existing eBook readers − as well as all other electronic readers yet to hit the market – freely available. Together with them, we’ll open a new chapter of eBook reader market development.
